Unfortunately, as many of you might have already heard, Chennai (located on the Southeast coast of India) has been devastated by El Nino, weather condition recognized by heavy rains. Around 300 deaths, streets full of water, schools shut down, lack of food, medicines and drinking water and thousands of evacuated people is the current situation in the area. The worst might be to come due to mosquitoes, diseases and infections because of the low hygienic living conditions of people who have lost nearly everything.
That is the reason why FSL India promptly reacted towards Chennai people’s needs. FSL India- Kundapur went on a drive last Tuesday, December 8th in order to collect materials and money to help the victims of Chennai floods. In the morning all FSL Kundapur staff members and many volunteers engaged in the drive in Kundapur and, in the afternoon, HBP staff and volunteers and some other LTV volunteers continued the activity in Gangolli.
It was great to see how many people wanted to share to help Chennai. Everyone wanted to help however small amount of money they could afford to give. At the end of the day, we had collected more than 32.000 rupees! All this money is going to be transferred to FSL India Chennai where staff and volunteers will purchase materials which affected people need and distribute them among them.
FSL India Kundapur wants to thank FSL volunteers for their help and engagement and people in Kundpaur and Gangolli who kindly contributed for the cause. All our support to Chennai people.
