There is a saying that if one woman gets educated whole family will be getting educated. If one teacher gets educated on Appropriate Technology, Imagine, how many generations gets educated on this…!! Also one generation gets educated on AT… Wont it pass on from generation to generation?!  There lies the strategy of Orienting Teachers on Appropriate Technologies and make them involve along with the students on its sustainability.

India and UK group camp

India and UK group camp

FSL-India and Concordia UK organised a group camp in rural Bangalore called Venkatagiri kottai in the month of August. We had 12 female teen volunteers and 5 mentors and along with our 1 team leader.

Camp focused on agricultural activities like interaction with local farmers, farming activities in the village, visit pottery to make pots, silk worm farm to know about seri-culture,  wall painting, educational drawing and teaching activities with kids.

Volunteers also had a chance to get know on Indian culture and traditional aspects by visiting historical monuments, Indian family visit and interacting with community people in the village. Volunteers also visited to many Hindu temples to know about the Hindu religion and the practices.

The volunteers really enjoyed their 2 weeks stay in India!!

Lalbagh: from a ‘garbage show’ to a cleaner flower show

For the past three years the YDP-B (Youth Development Program– Bangalore), a program of FSL-India, has been committed in cleaning Lalbagh, the immense botanical garden very loved by all Bangalore citizens. During the flower show which took place in the occasion of the  Independence day, Lalbagh attracts lakhs of visitors and is filled with colors, curious faces, families, children, fruit and ice-cream vendors:  a traditional and important ritual for the whole city.

My name is Praveenkumar and my wife name is Veena and we are blessed with a cute and well behaved son name Om, who is 5 years old studying in upper kindergarten. I work as a manager at Water Literacy Foundation, Bangalore. We are into water conservation and offer services across rural, urban and industrial India.
