An “Educational trip” has always more to offer than leaving the school grounds for an exposure. Educational trips give the students a chance to build closer bonds with their classmates, experience new environments and enjoy a day away from the regular routine.
The International volunteers working in the FSL-India Tent School Projects feels that the Tent school children could benefit a lot from such an Educational Trip as it’s usually rare for these children get such an opportunity. So, in the beginning of this year in the month of January, the international volunteers of the tent school project organized a visit to the “Pilikula Nisargadhama Zoo”, which is located near Mangalore. 13 Children from the tent school, 6 International volunteers and Teachers participated in this trip. Since, these children had never been to a zoo and this was their first ever experience, their joy knew no bounds.
The teachers and the volunteers helped the children to identify and learn about the animals they saw. The children were amazed to see the animals like – Tigers, Lion, Deer’s, Peacock and other birds, different kind of Snakes and Reptiles, Felines etc. under one roof.
After an exciting day at the Zoo later the children, volunteers and the teachers visited “Ananthpadmanam Temple” in Mangalore.
Memories of such “Educational trips” are among the most prominent of the formative years, largely because they are a welcome break in the routine for both children and the teachers. While this tip was organized essentially to educate the children, it also became a fun bonding experience for everyone involved.
