My Experience in Little Flower School

My Experience in Little Flower School

Little Flwer School-FSL India 1I am writing this letter to say you are the happiest boy/girl of the world. Why? Because you will work in Little Flower School!

I spent last summer in FSL-India. Pity, only three months… After two weeks of my work I asked myself “How I will leave this place and these children???” And it was really hard and painful. But I would like to tell you not about my tears but about joy, pleasure and happiness, which I got in this magic place.

So, you have arrived Little Flower School. You see a lot of children. They are very nice, cute and curious. Kids are smiling and they ask many questions. What is your name? Where are you from? How long you will be here? Oh, why so little? Read the rest of this entry

Hannah Brand Speaks about Hosadu Higher Primary School

Hannah Brand Speaks about Hosadu Higher Primary School

Hosadu School-FSL India 1“Good morning, Miss” I hear my student’s voice from the opposite side of the school. While walking to the office several children come up to me and ask if I will teach their class today. I smile at them: “Let me check the timetable”.

By now, I have been working as an English Teacher for five months. The children are adorable! Usually, I start my class by giving them their notebooks. They already know the first task: “What is the date? Please, write it down”.

I continue with some grammar exercise and finish with drawing and games. Read the rest of this entry

Therefore it covers not only all technical terms those are relevant to the topic (e.g. “carbon footprint” or “greenhouse effect”) but also introduces future technologies such as several renewable energy sources. In order to make the session more descriptive and interactive the Eco-team adopted modern teaching methods, i.e. the media use was intensified which enabled the students to participate more actively throughout the course of the session.

About the daily struggle of two volunteers teaching KG

FSL India - LTV 19.30 a.m. at Shanthi Ashram:  a prayer said in English by 12 KG children, yelling at the top of their voices, marks the beginning of a new day at St. Lawrence Convent School. Fire is opened and we are prepared, armed with a sufficient amount of slate pencils and chocolates as a reward for good behavior. The lesson starts with vocabulary and writing practice. Together with our Indian colleague we assign the children writing tasks according to their level of knowledge. While some children are still struggling with the ABC others are already able to write complicated words like months and even small sentences. Although in the beginning we never would have believed that we could teach the children at least something, we are now proud to see their improvement. Read the rest of this entry
