Different age, different education level, different interests, different destination, but all are together in a single room. Everyone is seriously thinking about development aid, personality development, cultural learning and so on… It is a first view from Bad Hersfeld, where 30 weltwärts volunteers are preparing for one year abroad stay…..
This month’s Long Term Volunteer Get-together took place at the Silver Sand Beach Resort in Malpe. As always, it turned out to be a great mix of project, host family and personal evaluation, as well as a lot of fun. The Get-together is an important event for many volunteers and their coordinators, because it gives us the opportunity to talk face to face about the volunteer’s experiences, their problems and challenges and their plans and hopes.
Its always nice to work together in group!!!
The objective of FSL India, to work together, to share together, to create together could be seen when we all got involved in building the Tent School. Just before the celebration of Christmas, volunteers from Work camp, sea turtle, environment education project and tent school project put hands in building tent school at Mullikatte.
On the 23rd of December we opened our sixth nest with 145 eggs inside after it hatched successfully. It was quite a good nest as around half of the eggs hatched. What was surprising to all of us, was to find a living hatchling inside. And this hatchling was special as the back flippers were still folded together at the rear end of the hatchling so it could not use them. Still it was very active so we decided to help it to reach the sea safely and saw how it swam away. However, we do not have a lot of hope that it will survive for long, as it is an easy catch for fish or other predators.
December month was one of the busiest month for whole FSL team. In this month we organised 3 different workshops in Kundapur, Mangalore and Bangalore areas for our new and current project contact persons. The workshop consisted the topics like, introduction of FSL India, BMZ Program, coordination system, roles and responsible of contact person, about voluntarism, conflict management ect… All together around 90 people took part in these workshops held in three different places.
Moreover we got very good feedback from most of the participants. Here you could see some pictures of the workshop……
