12000 kg Footwear on 200 m Beach Stretch: Times of India, Mangaluru – 13th June 2020

Concerned about the environmental impact of the rise in plastic waste at Kodi beach, a few like-minded people from Kundapura led by Bharat Bangera got together in 2018, to initiate the Clean Kundapura Project (CKP). Along with a group of local volunteers, CKP organizes regular beach cleaning drives on weekends with the main objective of promoting awareness among visitors to keep our beaches clean. FSL India’s staff and volunteers joined hands with CKP in 2019 and together, we are doing our bit towards a cleaner environment.

Thanks to the efforts of Clean Kundapura Project and FSL-India, the high level of plastic pollution at Kodi Beach came to light. 12000 kg footwear was collected over a period of 7 Sundays in November-December 2019 by concerned volunteers from the local communities. They also found large quantities of plastic bottles on the beach.
